GB3YT General Info

The GB3YT amateur television repeater first became operational at 14:30 GMT on Sunday 4th June 2000, receiving on 1249MHz and transmitting on 1316MHz. Sited 360m above sea level at Queensbury near Bradford, GB3YT provides coverage over much of Yorkshire and fits nicely into the existing ATV repeater network – as can be seen from the predicted RF coverage in the Maps section of this site. Meanwhile, try clicking HERE if you haven’t already seen the spectacular panoramic view from the top of the Yorkshire ATV mast.

Predicted coverage of GB3YT at Queensbury

GB3YT fills the gap left when the Emley Moor repeater, GB3ET, was forced into closure following the NTL site-rental increase. The equipment was taken over by the Northern Heights ARS repeater group which also runs the GB3WY 70cms voice repeater and ET was re-licenced as GB3YT and is now co-sited with WY. Basic information about GB3WY can be found HERE.

The original GB3ET equipment is still in use on YT, though the antennas and feed system are completely new. Much work has been done to optimise the antenna system and keep losses to a minimum. For detailed information about specific items of equipment in use on GB3YT see the Technical section of this site.

The ET equipment will be replaced in due course, both to improve the performance of the repeater and to add extra facilities. We have great plans for “bells and whistles” on YT, some useful, like having the repeater display on-screen measurements of your signal, and some “fun” items, such as a remote controlled camera on the mast.

All this will take time and money. If you would like to support GB3YT please contact the treasurer.
